Cognitive Dissonance is a mental state when one is torn between their beliefs and their actions. For example, a driver promotes "No Distracted Driving", but has difficulty not answering a text or looking at their phone themselves.
When experiencing Cognitive Dissonance, its a sign to reflect and introspect in order to identify the sources of that dissonance.
Let's ask ourselves, what is really causing us to feel guilty and torn? In the example of the driver, the obvious answer is the need to stay "plugged-in" to the rest of the world. But when looking introspectively, it may be that the driver has difficulty with delayed gratification. In which case, new strategies and mindsets can be utilized to minimize the Cognitive Dissonance.
